The château de la Madeleine is a beautiful medieval castle which overlooks the little town of Chevreuse. It gives evidence of the eventful past of this scenic area.
Taking the guided tour ‘Chevreuse and the Chateau de la Madeleine in the Middle Ages’ will highlight the strategic importance of this location and will explain why it was attacked many times during conflicts throughout history, especially during the Hundred Years War.
Walking around the town, you will then discover the economic and social life of a medieval town : its markets, its craftsmen such as the famous Chevreuse tanners or its taverns frequented by artists.
Finally, visiting the magnificent parish church and the former 11th century priory will illustrate the importance of the Church in medieval times.
